Cleaning & Gapping Snow Blower Spark Plug If you need video help, check out “Mower spark test video”. Switch and armature testing and replacing are covered below. As said earlier, armature failure is more likely. A faulty control switch is possible but less likely in any event, it should be eliminated before condemning the armature. If no spark is present, suspect a faulty armature (coil). To nail this successfully, a helper and a new spark plug are advised.Ĥ Check – View the test tool window for spark.

  • Insulated pliers (plastic coated handle).
  • You’ll need a few basic tools they include: In this section, I will show you how I test for spark, both with and without a spark test tool. You can find the test tool I use here on the “ Small engine tools page”. In a test situation, this is exactly what we want. I recommend using a spark test tool, the tool does a better job than a spark plug as it stresses the armature, which causes it to work extra hard to fire the tool. Viewing the plug while yanking on the cord can be tricky and you know if the plug doesn’t ground it won’t spark. I tried the machine out in the field and it was the same for the tracks slipping.I know you tested the spark plug and found no spark, but it’s worth noting testing for spark without a test tool is sometimes hit and miss, especially if you are testing solo. The hydrostatic easily overpowers the grip of the tracks and keeps them turning. Each time the bucket hungup the tracks kept turning driving the machine left, right or stationary with bouncing. My area has lots of snags and I'm not familiar with using a Honda track. Not much snow but a chance to use the machine. I picked up a Honda 1132 hydrostatic track last week and tried that out the other day on a 2-3 inch snowfall here. Pressing on the handlebars would only cause the wheels to dig a hole.

The bucket caught and the wheels would spin. I then went into the field next door which has a very potted uneven surface so lots of bucket snags. The big 6 inch knoby tires grip very well but each time the bucket caught the wheels spun even with pressing down a bit on the handlebars.

It's rough road in places so catching the bucket in places.

I gave going over there a shot as going up the hill might free up rust. There's a very steep 40-50% hill next door with a road that was tared, old and weathered so a lot of angled peble tops sticking out. The big plumbers wrench put so much force on the hubs I was worried about breaking something in the gearbox, no luck. I've used heat (map gas) and big plumbers pipe wrenches on them without success. One has two rust locked wheels and the other one. I'm not so familiar with which machines are better or worse for disk slip as I usually back off piles fairly quickly when the wheels slip or will soon slip. Not to flog the very dead horse more, I'm posting a comparison which might interest some.
